Answers

  1. What is Claros? What is Claros Project?
Claros is an ancient Ionian city in Turkey, the city of prophecy and wisdom. There are Homeric hymnoses about the city from 6th 7th centuries BC, but most probably the city has its roots from long ago, maybe since the Hattian civilization(2000BC).

Claros Project is an effort to build best quality open source Internet applications, which are open to public.

  2. What are the licenses for Claros products? Is this all really free?
Currently all of the products in the Claros Project are GPL or LGPL, which means they are free as in the term "free as a bird". These licenses are maintained by the Free Software Foundation, more information can be found at http://www.gnu.org. To summarize, you are free to get the source code, modify it, use it, copy it etc... All the products of Claros Project will always be free(as the bird) and also open source, but in the future some future versions or future products, modules might not be all cost-free. If you expect me to provide extra support (installation, extra feature development, custom module development) I will kindly ask for a fee.

  3. Can I get/modify the source code?
Yes you can. The source code of the software is bundled with the downloaded package and if you want you can modify the software.

  4. Can I redistribute Claros products?
Yes you can. But I would prefer each download is done from my server. I am collecting statistics about the usage of the software. It might also be non-safe to download a software package from an unauthoritive server, because it has the probability that it is changed and has a backdoor.

  5. I want to donate money to the Claros Project, what shall I do?
If you want to donate money to Claros Project, you might use the PayPal donation system. The donations will be used for the costs of maintanance of the software and servers. All donations are very kindly appreciated.

  6. I am a programmer, tester, graphics designer, webmaster etc... and I want to help Claros Project, what shall I do?
First of all you can watch the questions asked at the support section and answer them. You can report me bugs, and maybe code corrections. If you are a graphics designer, web designer, user interface specialist and software testing specialist please do not hesitate to contact me. My email address:

  7. I believe I found a bug, got a question, what shall I do?
First of all search for the issue in the support section of this website. If there is no such entry than post an entry in the appropriate forum. If still not answered please e-mail me with the details.

  8. I want a custom module/product implemented for me. What shall I do?
Please ask me for a price with the details of the required module or completely new product. I will kindly ask you to make a donation for the new feature/product and setup a plan for the release date.

  9. What are the future plans of the Claros Project?
I will continue developing and extending Claros In Touch for some time. I will extend its capabilities until it is a full feature groupware and messaging solution. When it is completely free of bugs, I will start adding instant messaging capabilities just like Gmail. Themes support, multi-language support, remote file management, workflows etc... are in my todo list. If you want to help me on these modules please contact me.

I am also working on a new open source product currently. Just a hint, it is a customer management software.

In the near future Services section of this website will also be opened. There are some surprises there.
